Our core commitments

  • 1.Your data will never be shared, sold, rented, or given to any other party — not now, not ever.
  • 2.You can permanently delete your account and every piece of data we hold about you at any time, directly from Settings.

What we collect

SchoolBrief only collects what is needed to provide the summarisation service:

  • Your email address (used for account login and to send you summaries)
  • Your children's names, year levels, and extracurricular activities (used to personalise summaries)
  • The school newsletter content you forward to us (processed to generate summaries, then stored)
  • AI-generated summaries (stored so you can review them later in your dashboard)

How we use your data

Your data is used for one purpose only: to generate and deliver personalised school newsletter summaries to you. We do not use your data for advertising, analytics products, or any purpose beyond the core service.

Third-party processors

To generate summaries, the text content of your forwarded newsletters is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. This is the only external party that receives any of your content.

Anthropic Claude

Newsletter content is sent to the Claude API on a per-request basis solely to generate your summary. Under Anthropic's API usage policy, this content is not used to train their models and is not retained beyond the immediate request.

We will never

  • Sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party
  • Use your data to show you advertising
  • Share your children's information with any organisation
  • Retain data after you have deleted your account

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your profile and login credentials
  • All children's profiles you have added
  • All summaries stored in your dashboard

Deletion is immediate and irreversible. We do not keep backups of deleted accounts.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as you have an active account. Summaries accumulate in your dashboard until you delete them individually or delete your account. Once deleted, data is not recoverable.
